It was my last night in D.C. I hopped on a scooter and visited several monuments, and most were somewhat busy. But when I made it to the Capitol, the only person there was a single security guard, who you can barely see in the picture. It felt like the Capitol shut down for a few minutes just so I could capture this shot.

I really love the sense of scale in this shot. It's something you really need to see in person, but I think this image does a good job showing how massive this building really is.

I'm not sure why, but I'm always drawn to this photo. The lighting looks like a movie scene.

That is my wife in the picture. I didn't pose or direct her. I simply noticed she was standing there reading the text carved into the wall, and it really conveys the sheer scale of the Lincoln Memorial.

This is one monument that is drastically better at night. During the day it felt very plain, but the lighting really transforms it.
