Male Gator, Looking for a Mate
If only this photo had sound. A female was about 20 feet away, and he was trying to get her attention. I don't think I had ever been this close to a gator this large.

I remember shooting hummingbirds, and they come in waves. You'll have 30-60 seconds of shooting, and then maybe 30-60 minutes of waiting for the next pass. During one of the lulls, I looked down and saw this guy looking up at me. They're pretty common, but the detail and colors really make this image pop.

This image was shot pretty far out. I was honestly just trying to see what the gator had in its mouth, and to my surprise, it was another gator. I had heard they can be cannibalistic, but I had never witnessed it in person!

This was definitely a Jurassic Park moment! I saw the grass and brush swaying and heard crackling. Before I even saw the tip of his nose, I knew exactly what was about to emerge from the bushes. I quickly dropped to my stomach and fired away to capture him in the right position!
